As an App Developer from day 1, I agree that Apple has jumped the shark and acts more like 2000s Microsoft than anything else. They are missing AI the same way that Microsoft missed the Internet, by being so sure they are the best at it that they haven’t even started running the race. Today’s iOS devices are crippled, and Apple is predatory. If they’re serious about “Apple Intelligence”, which is doubtful, we’d better get real local AI capability available to app developers, not more stickers.

I like it! But I also think this costs maybe 100% more, not 10%.

For 2025 we need Fusaka on L1 with PeerDAS, ideally with 48/72 blob target/limit Let's aim to get a Fusaka testnet with these blob parameters running the day after Pectra goes live.

Internet First. Because the Internet is the first place you go each day. Because every industry is being reinvented Internet First. And because everyone is a first class citizen on the global Internet.

You don’t need permission to build AI. AI is for everyone, and now thanks to the Ai2, we have a fully open model efficient enough (4GB) to run on a mobile device and be useful even in airplane mode, or in a disaster that has taken down the Internet. OLMoE is fully open source, including the training data, the model weights, the inference code and the app code. The app - built with help our team at GenUI - can be used by anyone who wants to customize or build leading-edge AI into a mobile app. Download the app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ai2-olmoe/id6738533815 Developers, here's the Github repository as a jumping-off point to build your own: https://github.com/allenai/OLMoE.swift

Really, all of cypherpunk / free software / ... is just trying to preserve boundaries that were unquestioned in the year 1900. * Your device serves you, not some gov or corp overlord * You can repair and modify your device to better serve you * Your private conversations are private * Your private money is private

It flatly refuses to talk about Tiananmen Square 1989, however, so we must take everything it says and does with a grain of salt..

gm. my farcaster feed is beginning to resemble twitter, and not in a good way. squabbling, posturing, and misinformation abound, none of it funny, some of it dangerous. i won't help with that. so, instead of unfollowing anyone specifically, i've made the choice to reset my follows and exit most channels. I'll meander my way back to the channels I use and people I cherish over the coming days and weeks. Find me in the arena, as ever. See you soon 🎩🌹

The lenticular display on the exterior of the mask so a bystander can see the user's eyes (when not in fully immersive VR) is an amazing idea, and one I could not have predicted. Hopefully well-done and won't look hokey, but could go a long way toward making the device more reasonable to use.
