I'm not sure how we get the uber wealthy to pay more in taxes but we need to do something. ProPublica has obtained a vast cache of IRS information showing how billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Warren Buffett pay little in income tax compared to their massive wealth — sometimes, even nothing. https://www.propublica.org/article/the-secret-irs-files-trove-of-never-before-seen-records-reveal-how-the-wealthiest-avoid-income-tax

Agreed, this is one of the most obscene symptoms of our broken federal government. And it’s probably also a secondary cause at this point since it is a negative feedback loop: Uber wealthy skirt taxes, use money to buy politicians / influence policy, make more money, skirt taxes 🔄 Meanwhile middle class and a lot of non-billionaire upper class are paying 30% of our income to support the communities that the billionaires are exploiting to increase their personal wealth

1. Our government has a spending problem not a revenue problem 2. You’re disincentivizing greatness 3. In most cases the uber wealthy use their their wealth 100x more efficiently than the government In this instance, voting for “fairness” will lead to worse outcomes for all
