we are living in a generation where people need a tracking device to tell them if they had a good night sleep or not
they need their industrial grade co2 device to see if they should crack a window open to let some air and light in
what’s measured might be managed but that doesn’t mean it’s meaningful or even real half the time we’re just chasing numbers on a screen like they hold the secrets to happiness or health forgetting that our bodies have been doing this intuition thing for millennia without needing an app update or a battery charge
that gut feeling passed down from generation to generation the kind that told your ancestors when to plant seeds or dodge a storm or trust a stranger it’s eroding faster than topsoil in a dustbowl because we’ve outsourced it to algorithms that don’t know the taste of real dirt under nails
we swipe through life metrics heart rates step counts calorie burns as if logging it all will somehow fix the mess inside but all it does is turn us into data points obsessed with optimization while the world outside the dashboard fades away
and don’t get me started on the feeds that feed us poison the ones where ragebait gets prioritized like it’s the only seasoning left in our digital pantry spice and fire and nothing else no nuance no calm just endless scrolls of outrage engineered to hook us deeper because calm doesn’t click anger does it lights us up wires us tight keeps us coming back for more hits of that synthetic heat
maybe it’s time to unplug the trackers close the apps and just feel the damn air on our skin listen to our own breath without a graph telling us if it’s good enough because doing life’s work the real stuff that echoes through time it’s about being in tune with that ancient rhythm the one that doesn’t need notifications or likes just the quiet fire of knowing yourself deep in the bones where no device can reach
in the end what’s truly managed is the illusion that we’re in control when really we’re just feeding the machine more of ourselves but what if we starved it instead and let the intuition blaze back to life
