Your goal is to acquire users for your product. You’re considering an airdrop as a tactic to do this.

User A 
History of not selling airdrops immediately.

User B
Sells most airdrops immediately.

You can only airdrop to one. Which one do you choose?

I'd prefer them just to hint that one is coming, and that you should use their product for a chance at one.

Create a soft incentive for actual users, even if they don't plan on using it long term.

Because if your product is actually useful, it shouldn't be to hard to get people to use it from there 🤷‍♂️

Just because someone is using a product for benefits doesn't mean that they won't consider using the product for longer if it works

Think friends with benefits turning into a relationship

Interacting with a product in a non genuine way very rarely leads to people actually wanting to use that product after they can no longer get the reward they were using it for

People are going to game it's human nature.

But while they are gaming, if they realize the product is actually useful, they have a new reason to stay.
