I have been studying knots for a little bit. I don't really know why. My guess is that it sort of tickles this spot of "things that I think people should know" Anyway, here's one of my favorites: the sheet bend. https://knotspedia.com/sheet-bend/ It can be used to tie two lines of the same or differing sizes together. It has been found on neolithic tools, and has nautical origins. If the eye of a sail has been torn out, you can fold the corner of the sail and tie the sheet bend knot to that corner.

Kind of a bowline made from two tag ends instead of one

Breaks much easier than a square knot and no risk of tying a granny knot accidentally

honestly I thought the odds of this reaching another person who knew what a bowline is was pretty close to nil tbh.

absolutely knot (😏) I've only focused on really memorizing a few to try to get them super engrained. Bowline, trucker's hitch, sheet bend, double sheet bend, falconers, chain sinnet and bowline on a bight are all I have ot my name!! I will look at these thank you!
