HOW THE FARCASTER ACQUISITION IMPACTS $QR I may share some more thoughts on other aspects of the Farcaster acquisition later, but for now I just want to address the only time-sensitive question that I think is important for me to address publicly, given the number of people invested in my project’s token. That question, of course, is how do I think the Farcaster acquisition impacts $QR? In short, I believe this is short-term neutral and long-term TBD (I don’t have an opinion yet, and likely won’t for a while). $QR is in an interesting position. It has been the #1 ranked mini app on Farcaster for most of this year thus far and it was probably top 5 or 10 for most of last year since it launched in March. It is also the #8 clanker by market cap. There are few if any other apps/tokens that rank as highly in the Farcaster/Clanker ecosystem as app/token combinations. But even though Farcaster is the platform on which we have built $QR from 0 to 1, we are not depending on it (nor the Base app) to be the platform on which we grow $QR from 1 to n. Don’t get me wrong — few people would be happier than me to see Farcaster and/or Base grow 10, 100, or 1,000x. It would be great for me personally, having invested 3+ years on Farcaster as my primary home on the internet, even moreso than X. It would be great for many of the friends and friendly acquaintances I’ve made on Farcaster over that time. And, no doubt, it would be amazing for $QR, given its leading position in this ecosystem. But I am not going to rely on either Farcaster nor Base to do our growth for us. That’s our job. Their growth would be a bonus. It is not an assumption. Our intention is to do our best to grow $QR independently, in addition to any growth we may benefit from on the Farcaster and Base side. It had become increasingly obvious over the last few weeks that something was going to happen with Farcaster, and of the various scenarios I had imagined, this one (which I did not specifically imagine) is far from the worst. I had been quietly preparing plans for $QR which I believed could enable us to survive something as bad as a complete and total Farcaster shutdown which I figured was unlikely but not completely outside the realm of possibility. So I am relieved to not need to execute on those plans, and I am generally pleased with this relatively status quo-ish result, especially compared to the worst case scenarios I had imagined. For the Clanker ecosystem, given the current volume and market caps, it would seem there’s a lot more upside than there is downside from here, but of course, it can always go all the way to zero. Between a new team for Farcaster and a new focus for the Base app, this feels like a new beginning. With that comes more unknown, more potential risk, and more potential reward. And I’m here for that. After all, this is crypto. Most of us are here for a new beginning, of some kind or another. For change. For the thrill of the unknown. And for the risk that is required for the possibility of great reward. I try hard not to make promises about the future, but I can tell you that today I am about as energized as I have ever been in pushing hard for the success of $QR. It’s been a couple of weeks less than a year since I clanked to coin, and 321 days with 321 auctions so far. Some of you have been with us from the beginning and others are just getting involved now. I appreciate your continued support. https://qrcoin.fun
