this week i fell prey and clicked a scam link. it wasn’t major, i didn’t get drained, and i got away relatively unscathed. i minted an NFT to a counterfeit collection, losing .06 ETH. not life altering, but there are some takeaways 👇🏾

🏃🏽‍♀️ don’t move too fast. this week was a doozy. so when a hyped project on Abstract was minting, i didn’t do my normal due diligence. i honestly don’t even know where i got the mint link, but i’m assuming i clicked the wrong link in discord or X since that’s where i usually get them. i also did not double check the URL like i normally do. i’ve been in crypto and minted enough NFTs to know better. i was being sloppy.

⛓️ new chains introduce new risks. i was scammed on Abstract using the new Abstract Global Wallet. the AGW is a smart contract wallet built by Luca & the Penguins team, designed to work specifically on their L2. it’s honestly kinda confusing to use, but it’s the only wallet that earns XP towards the airdrop, so i use it exclusively on Abstract. but pocket universe, which translates all your wallet transaction requests into plain english and flags scammy tx’s, doesn’t work with AGW. and the AGW approvals don’t look the same as they do on all other wallets. so i never quite know what i’m signing and have a tendency to click through them faster as a result. when i reached out to the team whose project i minted they said there’s a wild amount of new scams on Abstract. new chains require higher levels of paranoia. https://x.com/0xcygaar/status/1924209038595858741?s=46&t=U7m_z6BiIrApC7Puc9tXAA
