Jacque is right. Degen allowance is given to users who have locked Degen tokens in a vault. The allowance can be given away as a tip like I just did. At the end of the month, ppl who have received Degen tips can redeem this tips for actual Degen tokens. 

Other tipping mechanisms like TIPN and NOICE create transactions that directly transfer tokens from my wallet to yours for interactions with your posts. When I like, reply, repost, or quote your posts you get tokens directly.

See the attached image. I just liked a couple of your posts. In my wallet’s “Activity” tab you can see two tips sent to you at 2¢ USDC each.

Since we have farcaster wallets & base wallets what does this mean for those who are only on ONE client?

Great question. I know that @jacek’s new Degen mini app completes transfers from one wallet to another. Much like TIPN and NOICE, I assume the transfers take place between whichever wallet each user designates in the respective mini apps. 

With the allowance/tip/redeem classic Degen method, I think it doesn’t matter on which platform you post/cast your 100 $degen on. The allowance and tips are linked to a specific wallet address in that instance as well. 

I did get an “invalid” flag initially with my commented 200 Degen tip to @brookejlacey.base.eth. I can see today that it is now marked valid. Protocol level events and client level events must take some time to work themselves out.
