yes, people switch tools for convenience, trends, or short-term gains. but long-term traction and retention come from a vision people believe in and will fight for — especially before network effects kick in.
farcaster briefly found that spark, then stopped leading with its core value prop: decentralized social. when the perfect moments showed up (like X going down), it never leaned in. instead, it dismissed the vision as not compelling enough (without really trying) and used that as cover to pivot toward yet another crypto casino.
now @jacek and others are carrying that flag harder than farcaster ever did, but it’s a hard sell when the protocol isn’t fully decentralized and the creators aren't committed to the vision.
it’s quite hard for me to be optimistic about farcaster right now. the only silver lining is that there’s still time to turn the ship around.
