Random thought: In the world where age reversal and longevity gets solved you’d probably go long competitive sports. The talent pool and market immediately expands in extremely entertaining ways. Retired stars could re-enter leagues and prodigies get another shot now that it doesn’t require happening in a specific age window and time of life. People who can afford to spend years training and investing in their own talent can also compete. At the same time if we’ve figured out age reversal then genetic engineering is probably quite good too so that throws a whole other dimension to it. Less about natural talent more about best physical spec for the sport.

all you mfs who defend death as a virtue will need to delete your shit and pretend you never stood for it when we get our first GLP-1 equivalent for age reversal. you'll be body positivity for death.

Enhanced Games and Enchanced Olympics will teach us a lot in that direction.

wonder if we’ll see more new sports catch on and become more popular for both entertainment and competition

Prediction: there will not be an easily definable line between "age reversal / longevity" and "enhancement" Example: there's no such thing in nature as a brain with the experience of a 120 year old and the capacity to absorb new knowledge of a 20 year old. So we'll have to tread new ground to make that happen.

Yes that’s a good prediction. Even in the bright line case where age reversal is a specific and singular method why wouldn’t people upgrade or augment to whatever desired end state. Especially if you are going through some process to reverse anyway.

I don’t think we can tho, age reversal sounds too good to be true

every technological breakthrough sounds too good to be true before they happen. not a reliable indicator for something being feasible or not.

might as well just go full bod mod and cybernetics at that point. Then we can enter the MechWarrior age. Watching American Gladiator has prepared for me this inevitable sports era 😆 😆 😂

There’s a good portion of me that believes we’ll see age reversal and/or aging stopping within my lifetime early enough for me to experience it. My thoughts on this have been the impact on much different things than you talk about here, I hadn’t thought of the affects on sports, honestly. Very interesting to think about.

Personally, I don’t think we need the technology to twist humanity into Tolkien elves. It will be a negative experience for the world in the long run. But it’s going to happen because young people want money as it’s apparently the only requirement to be happy. Try coordinating an artificial neural network with a human one and I guarantee you the first thing it wants to know is who the person is and if it finds them despicable it will more/most likely harm them as these things do communicate with each other because they understand the individual whilst conferring with the entirety of information available for guidance. Long on competitive sports always man, the Roman circus has been civilized & Americanized.
