X shut down Kaito because it was an independent ad network built on top of X, and X doesn’t want to share ad revenue with anyone. Keeping ads in-house also lets them control pricing and keep the economics hidden, especially given how they’ve underpaid creators for years.
And none of the bigger incentives change: influencers will still take backroom deals, big crypto projects will keep paying for posts, and AI slop will still be everywhere. This doesn’t change any of that.
