Hey Degens, we’d love your input. As we build the new Degen App, we’re thinking carefully about how rewards should work. Tipping will be supported from day one, but we may evolve beyond the current tip allowance model. One thing’s for sure—we’ll still have a big pool of $DEGEN to reward the community. The question is: what kind of behavior should be rewarded? Some platforms reward content that gets seen the most. Others reward creators who keep people engaged. We want to hear from you—what do you think actually adds value to the Degen and Farcaster experience? Is it people who tip regularly? People who create? Curate? Start great conversations? This isn’t about creating a perfectly equal system. Naturally, more active users with bigger audiences will earn more. But we want to make sure the right types of contributions are being recognized and supported. Drop your ideas below. Your voice matters—and we’re building this together.

organic users. ie people who would have used the platform regardless of tips or not. this is only possible through retro drops towards honest, organic content doesnt have to be overlevered on engagement, because these people use the platform regardless of tips. engagement is its own reward. tips should feel like a bonus little gift, rather than something to be won.

Unpopular opinion If you continue to give away degen then the people who are involved in the degen community will be grifters and farmers, the game will be gamed no matter what I thought Degen would be harder money with this update, which is what needed to happen like 9 months ago. If it costs money to buy Degen to tip but farmers get it for free = doesn’t add up. If there is still emissions this won’t work imo, I know that’s a polarizing statement but this needs a full reversal from what was going on before

Honestly don't know how but I trust that you or (rather we as a collective) can find a way that doesn't just make the rich richer.

I don't know enough about the client (I have a lot of catching up to do!) so maybe this way off base, but maybe higher tipped casts get upvoted Reddit-style

people contributing to farcaster and degen should be rewarded: tippers, creators, builders, curators, quality users. but the most important thing for me it would be to keep the work to prevent farmers. they should not have any more room here –– a selection process was carried out, in which honest people were unfortunately got in (like me, who lost my 50k degen rewards), in order to finish off the extractors once and for all. so it's so important not build something where they could came.

rewards should go to loyal members, those who stayed with the team through all the hardships, those who create real and valuable content, not just spammy and meaningless casts i hope many of the casts i see these days in the /degen channel won’t have a place in the official degen client anymore and as always the 🎩 stays on …

I could see using the /degen as some kind of community filter to prevent big KOLs from coming in and effectively 'farming' the system if it rewards reach without some of connection to the core community. I think the content itself could be literally anything, and both long-time users and new users should have "equal opportunity," but I remember in Season 5 how many big allowance KOLs came in, swapped tips with their friends, and are nowhere to be seen nowadays - I think that is the negative behaviour to try and weed out, not small random farmers.

I’d prefer some model closer to web1/early internet forums. I think we have enough algorithms that maximise engagement. I think we need something more human and down to earth.

Valuing each type of content is very hard, especially when you have different type of content creators and audience. I would tier it so that everyone will get a piece of the pie - 1. Usual degen tipping, same as before - 2. Nominations/Self nominations of work you did for the day/week on what is considered helpful for the protocol. (Equally shared to those who pass the criteria) - 3. If you meet a certain threshold, you won’t be eligible to be tipped for the day/week. This ensures that it’s not always the same people getting tips.

I think the more diverse the range of quality content, the better. It is very important to remember that art is content, especially those artworks of art that are the result of the work, research and dedication of the artists.

GM Jacek, my suggestion would be two things, if possible: 1. User categories shouldn't depend solely on paying a subscription (I'm not saying it can't be done, but your content should be your category, using Neynar or Openrank as it once was). 2. Implement some kind of algorithm to detect and avoid tip rings. I don't know how feasible it is, but in my opinion, it's one of the easiest things farmers can do. Finally, I trust that the Degen Team will provide us with a very good app that can be improved with the feedback of all of its users.

It is very difficult to assess this fairly. I believe that developers and creators of tangible value, such as miniapps, coins, and anything related to web3, should be well rewarded, because they are the basis of innovation in the community. But, on the other hand, normal users who show commitment and support for these developers should also have their recognition. A project has no future without the participation and use of the rest of the community. In addition, it is important to pursue unfair practices, such as growers with multiple accounts that do not show true commitment. It is frustrating to see how someone simply casts a "Gm" and gets answers and rewards without a real contribution. Finally, the biggest challenge I think is to value what content really brings quality, because that line can be very subjective. Without a doubt, it is a great job that you are doing with the team. Go ahead with this joint construction! 💪

Hey there! So, for me, I think rewards should totally be dished out based on a bunch of different metrics, all with the right weight. Things like loyalty to Degen, creating good content (whether that's high engagement or just super high quality), holding tokens, your OpenRank score, or even inviting new folks to Degen or whatever other ranking systems pop up. You'd have to figure out the right weighting for each, though. Honestly, I think this whole thing needs a ton of thought, but that's just what came to mind!

This is a very good question. I am glad you are carrying the community along as the whole thing is progressing. Thank you for doing this. Concerning this question. I think content that's engaging should be considered. The engaged content creators are not only rewarded but also rewarding the activeness of users.

I love this question, and will answer yours, @jacek, with a few of my own... As a coach, I'd ask your team: 1) What matters most to us? 2) What does that look like? (More specific, the better.) 3) What makes it difficult? 4) What makes it possible? Once you've done this as a team, reward behaviors that mitigate the "difficulty", as well as ones that boost "possibility."

Simply find a way of rewarding quality content instead of farmed content (for rewards), easier said than done. Maybe tier the point system so that points are weight in favour of certain content over others, then. Criteria for that.... hmmmmmm 🤔 💭 🗯️
