I agree, "Do you believe in God?" Is a thin question With so many different definitions of that word, "God"... When you answer it There is an inclination To find common ground With the person asking you Because we want to agree We want to feel the same And we will hide so much Of what makes us different To achieve agreement And then we gang up on those Who we could not agree with It becomes Us Versus Them And you see it It turns into wars I feel, You can ask a similiar question... That will get at something much deeper And will promote our differences... "What is your purpose?" You see... That question Allows us to be completely different And Gives each party an opportunity To respect each others' answers Ask each other in 5 years That same question I bet, they are different answers The fact that purpose changes Would seem to suggest That on some level Our beliefs DO shift Belief in a creator is Striving to understand That which is unknown Not isolated from Belief in yourself And your purpose As your purpose shifts Did your beliefs not shift with them? Is not one tied to the other On some existential level? My journey in life started with Roman Catholicism And Is currently in the realm of Agnostic Theism My purpose has shifted many times As did my beliefs I have had to deal with that As will you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EdmF4OyoKI
