If you don’t like big corporations, you shouldn’t like big government either. 1 leads to the other.

This idea is based on the belief that both can concentrate power and reinforce each other—corporations lobby governments, and governments may favor big business through regulation or subsidies.

However, one can be indetermistic of the other. Big government doesn’t inherently lead to big corporations — it can actually restrain them.

While there are examples of government enabling corporate power, especially through lobbying and regulatory capture, that’s not the only role government can play. In many cases, a strong, democratic government is the only force capable of standing up to corporate monopolies.
