looking to sit by myself for 10 days somewhere that isn’t $400+ a night

things i need: internet, a single stove burner, a bed, nature to walk in

wild article for several reasons, including but not limited to:

1. opens with "crypto founder Charles Hoskinson fled in terror"

2. second paragraph then goes "created Cardano, the 10th biggest crypto coin with a market cap of $24B" smh

3. details darkness retreats where individuals (including Aaron Rodgers, Tiffany Hadish, and Dwight Howard) spend a few days alone in darkness and silence without any electronics (aka "dopamine fast.") some crazy people have spent 40 days (wtf!!!)

4. apparently in the first day or two, participants overproduce melatonin so have deep, deep rest like taking sedatives. also takes a full day to stop absentmindedly trying to check their phone.

5. there are 5 darkness retreat centers in the US and 100 worldwide. the "Sky Cave" where Hoskinson went has a two year (yes, two full year) waiting list. 

6. oh yeah, some people start hallucinating by day three and equate it to what happens on a DMT trip.

yeah just come visit Washington State and get a campground for $30/night in a State park. Anywhere around the Olympics, Rainier, North Cascades, San Juan Islands, Leavenworth...

- practice mindfulness more often(i.e. being present and aware of your existence, usually i just focus on the sensations of my feet on the ground etc)
- reduce social media/screen time/notifications 
- increase movement (if you can run, run, else, walk)
- doesn't need to be a full day, but rather increased intentional periods of the above

Tell a monastery you want to do a retreat? Even if a-religious sometimes the boarding is cheap and atmosphere is tranquil.
