also only tangential to this discussion but @vitalik.eth had an early essay on value of money and seigniorage that i read recently that was illuminating. i can't find a link to it but was in bitcoin magazine in 2014 (republished in Proof of Stake book)

seigniorage "difference between the market value of a currency and its intrinsic value" aka how much value it has apart from being a currency

aka measure of how strongly do people believe that this thing is money
