for the love of god, why do I feel like the lone japanese soldier after the war has ended advocating for high-quality audio and video standards? movies sound different when they're not played on shitty PA speakers movies look different when projected from a print or 4k laser people want this stuff, they do not want generic experiences

most good OLED screens are better than the average cinema projector fwiw, very few have current barco 4k laser models that can offer decent contrast ratios

The BF has been buying and ripping Blu-ray Ultras to our lil home server and it’s been a treat to watch things recently. Only gripe is Dune 1/2 not being the IMAX formats…

interesting, why ripping to play via server rather than playing via disc? happy to hear it though, OLED is awesome. we have a 65” LG C9.

Something something physical media, especially discs, where never made as a way to preserve the media on them, rather only a way to consume the media. Outside of that, I am not sure, but he’s been enjoying doing it and has learned quite a lot about servers, LLMs, coding and about that side of his “industry” in movies, so whatever makes him happy I guess lol.
