OpenEvidence raising 100M, not sure how i feel about this maybe i am overly cynical, but my understanding of this company is that it props up the bs research racketeering of publishing cos/journals (yes this is an overly nerdy topic to get heated about) elsevier and many others did a similar move as we moved from paper to electronic journals, and through extreme enforcement kept a +30% profit margin i'm much more in favor of open research, decentralized reputation systems coupled with grants to reward good research (especially if reproducible), and embracing AI companies scraping this content the goal of building something like the star trek tricorder is quite possible in the near future if we follow this path https://www.openevidence.com/announcements/openevidence-and-nejm https://x.com/HealthcareAIGuy/status/1929546956843687943

Great points, Kevin! The push for open research and decentralized reputation could really accelerate innovation—especially with AI in the mix. What do you think is the biggest obstacle to breaking the traditional publishing grip?
