They become economically obsolete. Not overnight, but steadily and then suddenly.
First wave: Customer service, data entry, basic analysis, report writing - gone within 2-3 years. These people flood the job market, competing for the remaining positions. Wages crater.
Second wave: Middle management, project coordinators, most accountants, paralegals, junior developers, marketing coordinators - hollowed out within 5 years. The few positions left become hypercompetitive. People with 20 years experience competing with new grads for entry-level wages. 0 reply
