Damien Hirst has announced a plan to extend his artistic legacy for two centuries beyond his death. His intention to create 200 notebooks, each containing instructions for an artwork to be produced annually after his passing. These works would be authorised through certificates, allowing holders to fabricate and sell the pieces in Hirst’s name. Example is a sculpture of a pig in formaldehyde, an idea conceived in 1991 but never realised. If this concept were assigned to notebook 145, the corresponding artwork could be created 145 years posthumously and dated 1991, reflecting its original conception date.
