Wondering if there is any downside. It looks pretty straight idea and in tune with hot regions like North Africa, or Greece, where buildings tend to be bright colours.

Perhaps issues with producing the paint itself. There can be quite strong chemicals, usually involving PFAS that can be environmentally unfriendly to make and/or use.
