as part of the @fwb Friends With Builders cohort I've been vibecoding a toy-like DAO game for the past month

the idea:

as we march onwards towards superintelligence I believe that the next 5+ years will create a lot of disillusioned workforce refugees who will flock to online communities seeking purpose and a sense of belonging

DAOs are an extremely powerful tool for helping groups of people on the internet pool funds and coordinate around a shared goal, but in their current form they are flawed

to test this theory I am building game that introduces the concept of a DAO in a low-friction and fun way. It is a RPG style mini-app built on Farcaster that allows players to mint a character, join a squad and collectively defeat a boss to earn coins and loot

for DAOs to be widely adopted they need to be approachable, fun and rewarding

they need to harness inter-group competition and rivalry to help drive coordination in the same way the universities, guilds, cities and religions of the past have done

complex governance structures introduce friction and lead to internal power struggles and voter apathy. token based voting often results in those who have the most capital having outsized influence and many DAOs don't provide a clear path for members to contribute in a meaningful way
