I've had a few of those, and the silicone can absorb smells from the freezer which then impact the taste of the ice. Recomend finding a ridged plastic box that mold can fit in so the ice stays fresh!

Matthias ices šŸ’Æ, exposed ice cubes have weird smell since they absorb everything in the freezer and has that freezer burn taste even if it's just ice cubes in the freezer if not stored in a sealed compartment

The silicone itself absorbs the smell, unfortunately It develops over time, but eventually you take a sip of ice cold water and it tastes disgusting
