Mabel Johnson’s design philosophy is rooted in the art of the "re-invention." Drawing deep inspiration from the geometric quilts of Gee’s Bend and the evocative colour palettes of Paul Klee and Milton Avery, she treats every garment as a canvas.
Mabel’s craft was laid at a young age, watching her mother transform outgrown clothing into pillows, purses, and doll quilts. This early education taught her that nothing is truly "waste." Instead, she learned the power of "making something out of nothing,"
Driven by the desire to patch together a new contemporary narrative from historical remnants, Mabel launched her eponymous clothing line at just sixteen years old. Today, she continues to honour those early lessons by repurposing old materials into high-concept designs.
