/12 Bitcoin holds $1T in value but struggles to support lending, trading, or stablecoins. Scripts are limited, blockspace is tight. A new wave of BTCfi layers is changing that – and Celestia quietly sits underneath many of them https://t.co/LJocoJu9Oe 2/12 Bitcoin layers or BTCfi boost BTC’s capabilities without altering the base layer. Their aim is to turn static $BTC into yield-bearing assets while preserving Bitcoin’s security

/12 Babylon shows what’s possible. It lets holders stake BTC to secure proof-of-stake chains and earn yield. $BTC stays locked in the Bitcoin UTXO set while rewards roll in from multiple networks. Bitcoin security with DeFi-like returns 4/12 The challenge now is infrastructure. Each BTCfi layer needs to store transaction data, reach consensus, and provide high throughput. Bootstrapping a whole new chain for each project is slow and resource-heavy. This is where @celestia steps in

/12 @celestia offers a radical approach: do less. It handles only consensus and data availability. Celestia just orders blocks of data and makes sure everyone can access them 6/12 This minimalism makes Celestia high-throughput: Today it does ~8 MB blocks every 6 seconds (~1.3 MB/s). The roadmap aims for blocks over 1 GB. That is Visa-like capacity on a decentralized network

/12 For BTCfi projects that need scale, Celestia can be the data backbone. Example: payy_link batches thousands of Bitcoin transactions off-chain, then posts that data on Celestia. Users get fast transactions, and Bitcoin stays as the settlement layer

/12 Key benefit: sovereignty. Each Bitcoin rollup or appchain has its own rules and execution. Celestia only stores their data. If one rollup blows up, others keep running untouched. Users can exit with Celestia-stored data to recover their funds 9/12 Projects include: @payy_link - off‑chain BTC payments @citrea_xyz - Bitcoin zk‑rollup @spicenetio - sovereign trading rollup @initia_xyz - omnichain rollup stack built on Celestia DA @karak_xyz - modular restaking and hyper‑secure rollups
