This machine (Technegas) is a generator that heats technetium‑99m in carbon to create ultrafine radioactive aerosol for inhalation, enabling fast, accurate lung ventilation imaging (e.g., for PE, COPD).

For the uninitiated on Tech-99m. m is for metastable in that it almost fully decays by gamma emission over about 24h as its half-life is 6h. Perfect for imaging techniques whilst minimising radiological dose.
