In 2004, I would be appointed (once again) by President Bush to serve on a Commission to advise Congress and the White House on the future of NASA, which led to this report: At no time was basic Science viewed as an expensive luxury in need of a chainsaw

Excluding SpaceX, how much progress has NASA made since then? We’d still be catching rides from Putin, at best. Drastic changes can be sloppy, but that’s not an excuse to let our space program continue to atrophy.
