For sure, and i guess mainly it's associations and experiences in our life that makes us relate to certain things in a certain way! 
I think for me the amethyst has always related to the third eye for me, very Shiva energy which is a representation of the divine masculine (Indian mythology, if you're familiar), so i guess that's the connection with the masculine for me!

Definitely do understand the love for purple, it's such a glorious colour! Are you familiar with the charoite stone? 👀

I’m definitely biased bc it’s my birth stone, and I think historically people associate purple with royalty / Godly men (probably bc it was a hard color to make clothing out of - always a status to achieved had in the world of men), but I don’t think of amethyst as masculine, although we can have a mix of both as people so the energy can too? Idk. As a kid I liked that purple and didn’t understand why that wasn’t the norm. I love that it’s soft, like the hour right before it’s fully dark.

Interesting that you relate to it as a feminine energy, I've almost always related to amethyst as a more masculine one. Though it does eventually depend on the piece!
