@base.base.eth is the ETH bridged onto Base, Coinbase’s Layer 2 network built on Ethereum using Optimism’s OP Stack.
Base launched: August 2023.
Purpose: Make Ethereum faster and cheaper while staying secure.
Base ETH: Not a new token, it’s regular ETH used on Base for gas and transactions.
Bridge process: You lock ETH on Ethereum ➡️ get equivalent ETH on Base ➡️ can bridge it back anytime.
In short: Base = Coinbase’s Ethereum L2, and Base ETH = ETH used on that network.
