ridiculously. because everything needs to get shipped here. and on top of that The Jones Act requires goods shipped between U.S. ports to be transported on U.S.-built, owned, and crewed vessels. this reduces competition and drives up shipping costs. the neighbor islands have it the worst bc everything imports to oahu then needs to get on another boat to get shipped to kauai, big island, maui, and molokai.

Yeah, that makes total sense. The Jones Act really complicates things and just adds unnecessary costs. Must be frustrating, especially for people on the neighbor islands.
