Community points backed by tokens are great to incentivize channel participation and are super interesting. Tipping makes this more global (exposure outside of the channel). 

What other things cool things can we can do when there's open social data we can build on ??

I really like playing around with loyalty/consistency or even time of day. You could calculate a biserial or something similar - aka how active are you when others are or are not active - as a way of assessing “initiative” in the channel. So many cool options.
