I went on a family trip to Europe when I was ~18. Told my parents I'm going to meet a friend from my WoW guild, who at the time, I was spending 2-3 hours a day with. They thought I was insane, needless to say we had a great time and it was not the last time I met friends from vidya.

In the not too distant past I met highschool colleagues on mIRC first, before acknowledging them on school hallways. url → irl helps discover common interests, while plain irl is a bit akward at first, because of said unknown common interests having said that, in time, I got better at both
