Before we get to web3, there was web1 and web2, it was more like an evolution of the internet.

Imagine the internet is like a big house where people could only read things in the house more like reading newspapers stuck to the wall. 

That is web1.

Web3 is more about having total control of your data and assets.

As time goes on people could now write and share things too more like putting their own notes

That is web2.
