last bearish base post of the day: how do you spend so much time, cash, & effort on building a new FC client but simply forget channels? this seems like the type of oversight that is an obvious canary in coal mine

in all seriousness: channels mean a lot to me and it really bums me out most people don’t share my sentiments here

Yeah i absolutely love the concept (and I still use them to target + not spam people) And I think they'll be huge once we 100x or at least 10x users But right now they are not much more than a fancy hashtag, bc there's just not enough real conversational activity to spread around

tbh I completely disagree first of all: hashtags are awesome, idk why they catching a stray 2nd: if I want to talk about sports: where do I go? I constantly feel like I’m yelling into the void (channels seem to fix that better than most other levers I’ve seen pulled) curious your take here: how do cultivate sports talk here without channels?

these are becoming the "wheres" that make sense to people It just doesnt seem like we have enough conversational liquidity to divide up the main feed. (this isnt what I want to happen, just my observation of what did happen w channels experiment)

devils advocate: there is a great comment section on polymarket + kalshi, many more individual comments about sports than on fc with that said: 99% of the conversation about the markets happens on twitter

it’s a dance, and they all have to work together honestly I genuinely wish I could talk about sports on farcaster all day every day but there is literally nobody here to engage with unfortunately, and I highly doubt that a mini app will be the spark to change that (unless you’re giving away mucho free money)

Interesting comp. these are people who really care about the specific topic (enough to have found it and bet on it) my sense is that the number of people on farcaster who have that kind of *intensity* for any given sport or game tends to be in the dozens not the hundreds
