Not from the cold, not from illness,
but from a strange weight stuck in my mind,
with no way out but through drawing.
In the silence of my room, I pick up the pencil—
not knowing what I want to draw,
and then a face, tangled in messy lines, reveals itself.
Maybe it’s that part of me that’s always stayed quiet ...
