where are people discussing how to address the fact that social platforms are accelerating the decline of society? would love to spend more time talking to people who also care about this

damn I just saw a nice post on X that goes in that direction, it's a little different but social platforms and their effect on our dopamine for sure also correlate to the point of the post https://x.com/oxbquant/status/1967211517318692959

i think this post starts out with an interesting point but takes it too far to the extreme. there is a real problem with consumption and materialism today but i don't think it's necessarily preventing us from connecting with people in the way this person says it does and i don't think we need to manufacture suffering to connect with people but in the vein of consumption there are 2 videos i watched recently that you may find interesting (or may even have already watched) considering the theme of the tweet you shared 1. how we've squared up all forms of identity into trends aka "aesthetics" meant to be consumed https://youtu.be/58WAPnNIxlA 2. how silicon valley's relentless pursuit of reducing friction has enabled us to degenerately consume to an embarassing degree without the normal social repercussions (digital decadence) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6dp3OGd8Lw lmk what you think!
