In theory, the difference between a priest and a scientist is that the priest is spreading what they believe to be the truth and the scientist is supposed to be seeking the truth whatever it may be. I think in reality, the scientist and the priest are a lot more similar than we would like to think. The deeper you go into science, the more it looks like religion and vice versa. Where science is about removing ego and being humble enough to challenge oneself and ideas in search of an objective truth, sometimes the most humble people who have truly released their ego are those that are religious. They have submitted to truths beyond what they can even understand and accept their limitations and insignificance, where the scientists clings to their theories like divine truths and imagine themselves as gods of genius. 🤔

Would you like to hear a theory that makes following a religion an empirical decision ?

Metaphorical truth: Something that literally false or unknown, but if you act as if it were true you’re better off than acting based on how it actually is. Some exs 1. Porcupines can shoot their quills They can’t, but your mom might say this to keep you away from them, and this decreases odds of getting pined. 2. Treat all guns as if they are loaded If I had an empty gun, then it’s harmless. That doesn’t mean I can play cops and robbers with it. You’re better off lying to yourself about it being loaded so you treat it with respect.
