Top right of this chart is what happens when you don't pay your bot mafia protection money

Could also be the effects of a massive drop in new user retention that is bound to happen finally showing up in data Everybody their standard settings are set to follower + recommended only, its opt out Meaning 90% don’t even know the setting exists New users = 90% invisible with no chance to change it

Could be but I checked some other accounts and they are growing consistently... @ds8 has a theory I was on the suggested followers list and have fallen off

I think, Some users are followed by the bots in large amounts, others are simply reaching more real users than they were before imo that were already here If you look at following graphs, for a ton things started slowing down around that update Best indicator for growth is if the SCV per cast is rising But if you think about it logically, there’s no denying new real users must be in short supply New users get ignored by everyone, they don’t even know why -> most leave after feeling invisible, why would they stay, let alone engage to never get the dopamine from even a like? -> as a result most new engagers are bots, annoying even the people who do have the settings set to show everyone -> they eventually give up, and the problem becomes even worse

Yeah I agree with you that's got to be part of it. Dan talks a lot about content driving new users and they're introducing features around that, but doesn't seem to talk about retention and attrition at all 🤷‍♂️

Great graph! Clearly shows that reactions fall off dramatically while casts and follows are stable initially but then taper off possibly due to frustration? I guess the question that remains is what % of those reactions were undesirable? I suspect that they had to be mostly desirable human interactions because why would a bot care about only reacting to people with PB? Out of tips for today, will bookmark for tomorrow, this has given me a lot to think about 🖖
