What would happen If Iran and the US went to war ? It would be catastrophic not just for the region, but globally Anyone calling for war with Iran doesn’t understand what they’re asking for -Dr Roy Casagranda Why does he say this tho? - Iran’s government, society, and military are highly nationalistic and prepared for long-term resistance. Dr. Roy emphasises that unlike Iraq in 2003, Iran would fight back hard and for a long time. - Iran can’t “win” in traditional terms, but it can inflict massive costs and drag the US into a prolonged quagmire, similar to Iraq or Afghanistan only worse - While afghanistan’s population was only 30million when the US invaded and Afghanistan is way Smaller than Iran - The Strait of Hormuz, through which a huge percentage of the world’s oil flows, would be at serious risk. If Iran shuts it down or mines it, it could send oil prices skyrocketing and cause global economic shocks - Iran’s vast network of armed groups would go into overdrive Dr Roy says groups like Hezbollah, Iraqi militias, and the Houthis would all join the fray, launching attacks on US bases and allies across the region
