Some of my least favorite crypto words:
1. Hodl: Started as a drunk typo and turned into a meme for “never sell,” but mostly functions as cover for not having a plan or a risk framework. Would it be too much to say that I think this is just a dumb word from a bunch of perspectives (including a trading perspective)?
2. Wallet: It’s not a wallet. It’s a key manager for a keypair (public + private) or a smart contract account. Assets live onchain and the keys just control access.
3. Gas: Sounds like filling a car. Ugh.
4. Decentralized: Not binary, but a spectrum. You have to ask “decentralized what?” Validation, governance, infra, ops, ownership, because different layers can centralize or decentralize independently.
5. Trustless: Nothing is trustless. You’re trading trust in a single counterparty for trust in code, keys, protocol economics, and the people who designed and maintain them.
