My first encounter was a decade or two back over the meme, “based [god]” from a lot of video game discourse. I used it lightly with little meaning more than any “lol” or “neat” reply. Then Base and my indie dev era came. Now I used it a lot. I even pair it with precursors like “absolutely [based]”. The meaning hasn’t change but its value among my vocabulary mooned. It was always a way to say “what a great standard to set.” Now it’s become more indicative of my appreciation than the thumbs up emoji. Of which I now use 2 for similar effect. So I guess based went from “slang” to “replaces two-thumbs-up meaningfully.” Oh my god I need to stop yapping LOL

Being $BASED is doing what you know is right and putting integrity as First priority. Yes, we are in cryptoworld (and in Farcaster) but tbh - it should not ALWAYS be about crypto. It should not always be whats the next 100x and yadayada and instead its about the experience as a whole- whos the people/friends you made along the way, how did you improve everyday, What value you actually give?? after going back on Farcaster, One of my main personal reason is to try to spread positivity. whther on my posts, casts or story.

I saw on some news show (don’t remember now) they thought “based” was the far-rights language answer to “woke” as in based it the opposite of woke. Super hope there is no trend in that direction. Some of the lazier left leaning news is so crazy with the idea that crypto is a thing for the right. Crazy times.

everything started with a big blue dot, i had no idea about the base ecosystem. Then, i had really good friends who're utterly creative, not with art itself but design and storytelling as well. then I started following the tokens which had a motto of "base is for everyone" yeah i totally agree, base is higher, base is noice, base is for mint and even for the baddies. $BASED on a true story. 🥰

positive sum games, ownership, agency, community, accountability. a few more platitudes to be sure, but as cheesy as they sound I believe it’s true. a lot of energy and focus in the world is directed in the opposite direction. more of the above is always a good thing, imo.
