I’m from the South so I appreciate acknowledging a person’s presence with a smile, wave, or a nod. Unfortunately from the female perspective, it “opens a door.” The last time I did this on a subway, the recipient followed me home and wouldn’t leave when I requested. I’ve stopped since then. 😅
