The work serves as a poetic gesture that reflects the spirit of the moment, where the past decade’s enthusiasm for communication technology, clean energy, and space exploration has given way to growing political and economic concerns. The post-COVID era is marked by political polarization, a faltering economic recovery, and deepening mistrust in information technology. Furthermore, the previous optimism of engineering has been eclipsed by anxieties over automation displacing jobs and rising inflation. Drawing on the motif of shipwreck from history painting, these conditions resemble a raft drifting with abandoned hope.
