SYNTHLORA by Ronen Tantrum is on view at Bonian Art Space in the 798 Art District, Beijing, until May 9. SYNTHLORA is a collection of synthetic flora grown from e-waste, where discarded electronic matter is reconfigured into digital specimens that exist beyond the boundaries of the natural world. Drawing from the visual language of botany, the works construct a parallel taxonomy in which stems, filaments, and blooms are no longer organic but generated through algorithmic processes, forming an evolving e-Herbarium of entities that were never meant to exist. At its core, the project explores the transformation of waste into form, code into life, and system into emergence, where outcomes unfold unpredictably within generative conditions defined by the artist. Rather than replicating nature, SYNTHLORA rewrites it, shifting preservation into speculation and proposing a new digital ecology in which life is no longer grown, but generated.
