I personally like having these apps fully separate from my other wallets — kind of like how on Venmo you typically only keep a small amount of money there (and your bank accounts are separate)

my question on this; why do we need crypto “payments” apps that are just venmo wrappers?

u can just send usdc using a wallet. 

it’s the same friction as onboarding someone to a new payments app.

coinbases new smart wallet infra might even make less friction to just use a wallet.

The only major value add from any of these are on/off ramps imo. Ironically that tech is all outsourced too. 

Intl and cross border fiat payments/remittances facilitated via stables are insanely high risk products to stand up. There’s a reason no legacy banks/fintech have done this yet.
