The ship I'm on used to be based in Japan so all the ads X is serving me are in Japanese.

I was so confused at first until I remembered the fact about the ship coming from Japan.

Not only ads, Google Maps thinks we're in Japan too.

I'm on a cruise ship that used to be in Japan. Google uses wifi to detect location before it even uses GPS so it thinks we're in Japan. The cruise has Starlink powered Internet.

My heart is in Japan. 

Spotify works fine on my phone but not on CarPlay. Took me a month to realize it’s because I was as using my Japanese account. 

I didn’t get a pop up saying my location didn’t match or anything. Stumped me for weeks. My subscription lapsed because I only pay for a month at a time and when all the ads were in Japanese it clicked for me. I felt dumb.

Yup, it happens. My last ship was supposedly in Palermo 🤣
