Four suns rose over Alaska In fact, this is a rare optical phenomenon called parhelia. It occurs when three conditions are met:extremely low temperatures, the presence of tiny ice crystals in the air, and the refraction of sunlight through these crystals, which creates the illusion of additional glowing spots around the real luminary.
