Going to Marfa isn’t easy It takes hours to figure out how to get there and where to stay Before leaving home you wonder if you’ll fit in and if everyone there is gonna be hella nerdy You have no idea what to expect but you decide to make the trek to find out what the hype is all about The journey there is long, the road paved but unfamiliar. Occasionally you worry that you’ll get lost but signposts & tech guide the way And then you arrive — And you walk around and get to know the town and cohort of fellow enjoyoors You quickly feel at ease, yet excited Although you’ve never been here, this place somehow feels familiar - like you’ve waiting to arrive for longer than you realized The people are for sure nerdy but they’re amazing and you fit in immediately. You also realize that you’re a nerd too and that this comes with great benefits + is cool You thought it’d all be generative art, and much of it is and you love that, but you also can’t believe how much variety and subcultures & communities are represented too You realize that friction + uncertainty is a beautiful kind of sort filter for events, people, culture, innovation, opportunities and many other things You leave feeling optimistic about the space and grateful to be in it When you get home you find that it’s very difficult to explain where you’ve been or why it was so special But you don’t really feel the need to because somethings are so obvious that your gut tells you one day many more people will understand and think it’s dope you had that adventure early A lot like crypto tbh
