“Horowitz says he shares some of Kennedy’s concerns about whether antidepressants are overprescribed and how severe withdrawals can be. But he’s disturbed that Outro’s project could be seen as aligned with the health secretary’s broader Make America Healthy Again movement, especially as he considers himself “to the left of Bernie Sanders.”” https://www.wired.com/story/tapering-off-anti-depressants-outro-telehealth/

the idea that depression is just a chemical imbalance is a convenient lie. It’s a way to medicalize our social, psychological, and existential problems so no one has to look too closely to them. taking antidepressants is like like taking painkillers for a broken leg but never setting the bone. you are just riding the side effects and then trying to find solution for latter. it's sad. you can't even blame people. Our brains evolved for real social bonds, meaningful work, time outdoors, physical movement, building families etc. things you don't get in the modern world we have engineered. Today, most people spend their days isolated, sedentary, staring at screens getting brainrot dophamine, eating processed foods, disconnected from family and community. And most importantly with not much meaning in life. it's sad
