I always wonder why in tech you never hear anything about God, but in sports it’s common to see athletes and coaches give glory to God. I think it’s due to a number of factors. Pro athletes and coaches are the cream of the crop and actually have to do hard things to keep their jobs. Also, the act of playing a sport involves surrendering control in most scenarios. Leaning on God becomes much more obvious to a coach or athlete. Tech bros and leaders control everything down to the 1s and 0s; they control centralized databases with everyone’s personal information; they create algorithms to control us. Because of this they think of themselves as God’s.

Yeah but I’d say it’s also that religion nowadays can be more sensitive to speak about in the office unless there is an ERG of some sorts in place for people to be apart of outside of work hours. It’s a lot more common for sports to mention religion as it’s common practice from little leagues and up, via pre game/post game speeches + huddles — either way def cool to see the NFL including a bible study!

Yea I do wonder why it’s not common for it to be a part of tech organizations, like where and how did it get into little leagues and why not tech?
